I got these primarily to wear to work under slacks. I wanted a subtle cowboy boot that could pass as a heeled bootie under office pants, but that I could enjoy wearing on the weekend with shorts or a dress. This is it!
The construction was important to me; I walk a lot during the day and I initially tried a cheaper boot from another big-name boot brand. Their boot lining felt like paper, with a cardboard insole. These are full leather throughout, they smell amazing and feel like they’ll last. Note that they have a leather sole, so they’re a bit less cushy than styles with a thicker rubber sole.
These are true to size for Frye’s refined leather soled boots; I usually buy a 9 in this type and the 9 is perfect in this style. (In rougher rubber-soled Frye boots I own, I’m an 8.5.)
I've been waiting literally decades to buy a pair of Fryes - when I saw these, I knew they were the ones. And hoo, boy, they did not disappoint. They fit like they were custom made for me. I love that they're classy, yet funky, with a perfect heel for everything, and no overt branding. The leather (inside and out) is buttery soft, and the footbed is perfect for me. 10/10 happy customer!!
The interaction with the company via the website was appreciated when choosing size and delivery was fast and accurate. Very high quality build with what feels like a fantastic well dyed leather that will last and get better with wear and age. Thanks Frye peeps
They are perfect - I love them! My only note is that the seems at the top of the boot inside are irritating on my legs. They have created cuts on my legs and I have had to tape the insides of the boots.
After 8 years of constant wear, it was time to replace my 1st pair of Fry’s.These are practically identical and I look forward to wearing them out as well❤️
I wanted to write this review because of the negative one on this site. I bought these in the spring of 2022 so I’ve had them over two years and yes they’re a bit dirty but nothing is falling apart and they are as beautiful today as they were the day I got them.
The inner leather lining does cause color to rub off on your socks but this wasn’t a big problem for me. I love the natural leather color of the inner lining.
Great sneakers without much obvious marketing on them which I really like.
Giving these a 5-star review as they deserve, but chose to write a review just advising that if you have standard to wider feet, order 1/2 size up (I had to exchange). I wear a 7.5 in most shoes (as in 80% of the time). I do size up to an 8 in running shoes (specifically: Nike AirMax, New Balance 1080 V13, On Cloudvista Waterproof), but always a 7.5 in "everyday shoes". That said, I was purchasing these to replace my ECCO Street Tray Sneaker, which fit perfectly and are a 7US/38. All that to say, I am a true 7.5, but some shoes fit a little tight and these are one of them! I read many "Fits TTS" reviews and I think those folks may have a) narrow feet or b) like to wear a slimmer sock/like the fit of a tighter shoe. Enjoy!
I was in Chicago a few years ago and made a point to go to The Frye Company store when there. It was glorious! I bought these and one other pair of shoes. These are very comfortable for my skinny feet. I can wear them all day without issue. They go well with casual pants, jeans, dresses and even shorts. They look good scruffy or on occasion I polish.
The soles are smooth. I had them redone with some tread because I almost wiped out several times on wet stone surfaces, such as those in shopping malls or office buildings. Now they are even better.
I absolutely love these boots. They were pretty comfortable the first time wearing them. Such wonderful quality and so well made. Buy them. You won’t regret it.
